SIL Living
What is Supported Independent Living (SIL)?
Supported Independent Living (SIL) is an NDIS support where you can live with other people who also require some support, on your own. Friendly and qualified Kharisma Care team members will be on hand to help you out with everyday tasks like cooking, housework and personal care.
Each group of housemates are carefully selected to ensure a great mix, so you’ll be able to enjoy making new friends and socialising while developing your own independence.
We are here to support you to achieve your goals and live the life you want, so each house has slightly different programs to suit the residents and what they need. We invite you to complete our online SIL application form to help us learn more about you.
NDIS Support
SIL is best suited for participants who have high support needs. If SIL is the most appropriate support for you, you will receive funding for this assistance as part of your NDIS plan.
The amount of SIL funding you receive will depend on the level and type of support you need to live as independently as you can.
Supported Independent Living is funded under Core Supports – Assistance with Daily Life in your NDIS plan.
The NDIS does not fund the cost of rent, board, transport, and other day-to-day expenses such as food and activities.
Is SIL Right For You?
If you’re not sure whether supported independent living is the right fit for you, or you need assistance with NDIS funding, our team will be happy to talk you through everything you need to know.
Community Access
Community Access – Living The Life You Love
Sometimes it can be difficult to get out and about in the community and stay connected with your friends and family. Having an enjoyable social life and participating fully in society is an important part of life for everyone, which is why we focus on supporting everyone to do these things regardless of barriers they may face.
Our Disability Community Access programs are hubs where programs and activities are specifically designed for NDIS Participants to learn practical life skills while building confidence and social skills in an encouraging, supportive environment.
At our hubs, you can learn something new, like cooking or how to use a computer. You can also go on day trips to local events, swimming pools, gardens, museums and much more. Your Kharisma Care support worker will accompany you to activities, whether it’s shopping, playing sport, or just hanging out in a café.
Under your NDIS plan you have the flexibility to participate in a wide variety of activities.
